Winter camping
Short weekend trip to Algonquin park on January 20-21 of 2001. I learned a few interesting things:
- your shoes can freeze and become as hard as if they were made of steel (forget trying to put them on)
- an axe can come in handy to hack a large portion of bigos into smaller
chunks (since everything freezes into stone)
- if your stove isn't top of the line it can take 30 minutes to boil a small pot of water
- if you're gonna hit a tree with your snowshoe, remember to put on your hood
first (and be patient - the snow will keep falling for a good 10 seconds :)
- -21 degrees at night feels a lot colder than you think
Here's some pictures.
